Muhammad Asif, a case of chikungunya, revealed that he'd first developed a fever, alongside a bitter taste in his mouth and burning pain in his hands and  bases." When I reached the nearest sanitarium, the croaker , upon looking at the symptoms, diagnosed it as chikungunya. They gave me  drugs for pain and fever while advising me to rest at home. During this time, I was  unfit to walk due to pain and could n't work  moreover," participated Asif.

also, Sadia Khatun, another chikungunya case bared that two of her children too had acquired the  complaint." We were  unfit to walk for several days. The  complaint is spreading due to the lack of timely fogging which has allowed the number of mosquitos to grow," complained Khatun, who  criticized the government for its failure to take the outbreak seriously.

According to Dr Shoaib Khan, General Physician at a private sanitarium in Nazimabad, at present, a large number of people in the  megacity were suffering from chikungunya  still, the high cost of its test had averted cases from getting a proper  opinion and hence the data could n't be  collected." utmost government hospitals do n't have a testing  installation while poor sanitation and lack of fogging is causing the outbreak to  consolidate in Karachi," claimed Dr Khan.

According to data  entered from major government hospitals across the  megacity,  roughly 500 to 750 suspected cases of chikungunya are being reported on a  diurnal base, with the  maturity diagnosed on the complaint of fever and knee pain, the two most conspicuous symptoms of the  complaint. "

Chikungunya  complaint is diagnosed through the polymerase chain  response( PCR) test, which is available at a many private hospitals, that too for Rs  7,000 to Rs  8,000, which is unaffordable for the  millions. thus, government hospitals are diagnosing cases with the  complaint grounded on symptoms only. Accurate data on chikungunya wo n't come out until the  individual tests are done in laboratories.

Chikungunya and dengue both are anticipated to continue with their  inflexibility till December," said Dr Abdul Wahid Rajput, Director of the Sindh Infectious conditions Hospital and Research Centre.

Professor Saeed Khan, Head of Molecular Pathology at the Dow University of Health lores, exfoliate light on the fact that chikungunya was a viral infection that spread through the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitos." piecemeal from fever and joint pain, red spots may also appear on the body. After the thunderstorm season, there are chances of this contagion spreading  thus, citizens should wear defensive apparel and close the windows and doors of their homes. Most importantly, the external authorities must  insure that  thoroughfares are kept clean, and water does n't accumulate anywhere. Arrangements should also be made to drain water from ponds after a rain spell. We should plan for this throughout the time,"  prompted Khan.

Speaking to the Express Tribune on the matter, Dr Mushtaq Shah, Head of Vector- borne conditions at the Health Department of Sindh,  verified that chikungunya cases were  adding   further compared to cases of the dengue contagion." The recovery period is  generally one to 10 days. The loftiest number of cases are being reported from the Eastern, Central and South  sections of Karachi. So far, 153 cases of chikungunya have been reported after PCR test  evidence. There are  nearly 900 mosquito hotspots across seven  sections in Karachi. It's the responsibility of the District Health Officers to carry out fogging to  annihilate mosquitoes," asserted Dr Shah.
